Product Quality

Only the Best Quality Materials

I regularly receive feedback from customers letting me know how pleased (and often surprised) they are with the fantastic quality of More Than Words products.  In a little corner of the More Than Words website we talk a bit about the quality of our artwork but I wanted to go into more detail to highlight the efforts we really do go to in order to ensure each piece of our pieces is produced to exacting standards and Fine Art quality.

More Than Words offers a range of different products (or ‘panel types’ as we call them) canvas, acrylic, ‘vintage’ framed canvas and framed prints.

Prior to launching the company we searched high and low for products that would ensure our customers would never be disappointed with the quality of our artwork.  In fact, in many cases we don’t even realize bad quality until we see an exceptional quality item.  I hope that this post will provide an insight into the finish you should expect from all high quality art producers.

Canvas
Our museum-quality heavyweight 450gsm 100% matte cotton canvas is approved to Fine Art Trade Guild standards.

Sturdy wooden support frames are made from FSC approved kiln-dried redwood pine, measuring a chunky 45mm deep.  These premium stretcher bars are hand cut and planed to size, with a curved profile and rounded edges which ensures minimal contact with the front of the canvas, preventing cracking and impression marks.
Each piece of artwork is hand-stretched around the frame (a highly-skilled process) and finished on the rear with artists backing tape.  The corners of each canvas are professionally trimmed and not folded so there will be no unsightly bulges around the edges.
Our canvas is produced in a way that ensures you don’t need to worry about sagging so there is no need for tightening wedges. All artwork is produced using Giclée (pronounced “zhee-clay”) fine art printing with pigment-based UltraChrome and Ultra Violet (UV) inks for superior colours and longevity.  These assure your print will remain vibrant for over 75 years.  We aim for the highest print resolution possible.
To complete the process, each piece of artwork is sprayed several times with a Fine Art approved satin varnish, which not only helps to add further protection against light and moisture but also enhances the inks and helps to protect against yellowing and marking.

NaturalCanvas
100% natural cotton canvas.
In fact, so natural that you can see the cotton
seeds and fibre on on the rear of your artwork.
We think it adds character.
